Recreational therapy is also known as therapeutic recreation. According to the NCTRC, it is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.
Professionals that utilize recreation/ leisure activities, community based outings and other interventions to address the needs of individuals with disabling conditions to achieve a better quality of life.
